Stephanie Davas (AKA) Gypsy D

Born & raised in South Australia, Stephanie lived life between the country, City & the sea….
Her musical journey began from the moment she could reach the ivory keys of her Grandmother’s piano. Her first memories forming the strongest musical influences, were of family members playing instruments & writing songs. Stephanie’s father has always called her ‘Gypsy’ & this is the name under which all of her music is given life.
Her earliest influences apart from her family, were those of ‘Rodriguez/Joan Armatrading/Bob Dylan/Neil Young & Led Zeppelin’, just to skim the surface.
Self-taught on the guitar & piano, she also fell in love with the flute at age ten & with the support & guidance of her parents she then embarked on classical training that has culminated in a high standard, ultimately garnering her a Bachelor of Music degree in composition.
Feeling at home with the Blues, Stephanie also went on to further meld elements of folk/rock into her stylings. She went on to play in many groups & collaborate with many well respected artists before deciding on a purely solo career.
Here we are now in 2020, a most difficult time in the arts & the birth year of ‘Moments’, Gypsy D’s most heartfelt statement to date. As the title suggests, these are songs that are like flipping through a photo album of her life thus far….Life is full of Moments…
‘Moments’, to be respected & treasured, now laid bare for the listening….
